How to: Knotted Bun

Knotted updos were a popular trend on the runways this year.
2011 Spring/Summer Hair Trends

1. Start with a low ponytail and wrap the binder with a small section of hair. Bobby pin in place.
2. Tuck the top half of your ponytail into a loop, leaving the ends out, bobby pin the loop into place.
3. Twist the remainder of your hair around, into a bun form. Bobby pin into place.
Side Note
  • Depending on your hair, you may need a smoothing serum.
  • Always use a good hairspray to smooth down fly aways and stubborn hairs.
  • A boar bristle brush helps A TON when smoothing out hair.
  • The model's hair {top of page} looks wet, this looks cool on the runway, but probably wouldn't translate well in everyday life. However :), if you want to achieve that look, just use LOTS of gel.

It is pretty tricky to go shopping this time of year. With all the stores overflowing with light summery items, I often find myself buying these cute little pieces that, realistically, I can't even think about wearing for another two months. So, when I am trying to be a smart shopper, I try to find pieces that can translate from season to season. The Bobi Shirt Dress {above} is one great example. Currently I can wear it with leggings, jeans, or unbuttoned as a layering piece. In the Spring/Summer, I am excited to wear it as a dress with my Dolce Vita Sandals, as a cute swimsuit cover up, or even as a light jacket over a sundress. SO many options!
